The Best Workplaces in Chicago award is based on analysis of survey responses from more than 30,000 current employees across the U.S. Great Place to Work is the only company culture award in America that selects winners based on how fairly employees are treated. Companies are assessed on how well they are creating a great employee experience that cuts across race, gender, age, disability status, or any aspect of who employees are or what their role is.
“The Best Workplaces in Chicago are made up of good people who are about their people,” said Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work®. “This exclusive group have created cultures where one’s background has no influence on whether you are treated with respect, fairness and credibility. These companies can expect better business results thanks to their high-trust, inclusive workplaces.”
In response to the global pandemic, BigHand rolled out various initiatives to keep staff motivated, engaged and focused. Thinking of new ways to stay socially connected, supporting flexible working, launching wellbeing initiatives for staff mental and physical health, and ensuring everyone was fully prepared to effectively work from home were all successful methods in driving the business forward and maintaining its culture.
The news comes in the same month that BigHand was announced as winners in two categories of the 19th Annual American Business Awards. BigHand received the Silver award for it’s Resource Management Technology in the ‘Human Capital Management Solution’ category, and the Bronze award for it’s overall innovation in 2020 in the ‘Most Innovative Tech Company of the Year’ category.
Eric Wangler, Global Managing Director of Workflow at BigHand comments: “It’s a real honor to be named one of the 2021 Best Workplaces in Chicago™. Despite 2020 being a challenging year for everyone, we recently reported a record-breaking year for the business including record sales in North America. This success is all down to our people.”
“Our “BigHanders” are the driving force behind our success and I’m so proud to have a team of such hard working and resilient people who show their dedication to providing the best service to our clients every day. As a business we are always looking for new ways to support our people both professionally and personally, and I thank everyone in the business for continuing to make BigHand a truly fantastic place to work for us all.”
Kim White, Head of HR, adds: “This award is validation of the commitment we have to creating the kind of culture which attracts and retains the best talent. Having been placed for the fifth-year running in the UK’s Best Workplaces™ by Great Places to Work®, it’s wonderful to have this recognition in Chicago as well. We are committed to maintaining our strong ‘people’ culture, and by putting our “BigHanders” first, they have in turn delivered outstanding work for our clients across the organization. They say that if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life. That’s what we aspire to achieve at BigHand!”
