BigHand Eversheds Project Named Infrastructure Innovation of the Year

BigHand, the market leading productivity software vendor in the global legal and professional services sector, has today announced that it has been awarded the ‘Infrastructure Innovation of the Year’ at the UK IT Industry Awards.

The UK IT Industry Awards looks to celebrate IT excellence and is the benchmark for outstanding performance throughout the UK technology industry. The awards focus on the contribution of organizations that have excelled in the use, development and deployment of IT over the last 12 months. The ‘Infrastructure Innovation of the Year’ category focused on an innovative new product or service that has delivered measurable benefit for customers.

BigHand won the award for the speech recognition project they completed with Eversheds, one of the largest law firms in the world. The firm-wide implementation of speech recognition enabled over 2,000 lawyers to use speech recognition - the single biggest roll-out of its kind globally.

Ben Mills, Managing Director, UK Legal, BigHand, comments: "To be recognized in the legal industry is one thing, but to win an award with so many entrants across so many sectors, was ground breaking for BigHand. It is fantastic that we have innovative clients like Eversheds come to us with business challenges, and we are able to work collaboratively with them to find a solution for their needs. In this case, an extensive and transformational roll-out of speech recognition, a solution that I have no doubt will benefit many other firms."

Jon Ardron, Chief Executive Officer, BigHand, adds: "This week has been a great week for BigHand – to be recognized as leaders in innovation at the UK IT awards is phenomenal. We are pleased to be representing the legal technology industry among so many other different sectors. It is fantastic for all the people that have worked really hard to make this speech recognition project a success and a true sign of how we work collaboratively with our clients to help to solve their business challenges. It also confirms that our speech recognition module is a productivity tool that works, and can make a real difference to businesses. Eversheds' use of our technology is the perfect example of that.”
