Operating across four separate sites with over 750 beds, Wrightington, Wigan
and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust serves over 300,000 people in the local area
with its 4,000 staff.
BigHand for Healthcare is a customised digital dictation and clinical correspondence solution which replaces tape and paper based systems used in medical dictation, transcription and transmission.
Clinicians, Medical Secretaries and Service Level Managers are provided with an intuitive, easy to use interface enabling them to easily create, track, transcribe and manage workloads, as well as allowing them to leverage additional options such as Speech Recognition,
Outsourcing or smartphone-based dictation.
The Trust signed up to BigHand in May 2009 and began implementing the software Trust-wide in June 2009 to initially incorporate 260 authors and 140 secretaries, with the objective to reduce costs and unnecessary expenditure. The rollout – from June to September 2009 – four months across all specialities.
