North Yorkshire Law has found secretaries were able to cover work for absent colleagues during the Easter holidays perfectly using BigHand Digital Dictation software, rather than bringing in costly temp cover. The firm has now rolled out the BigHand system across five North Yorkshire offices – three in Scarborough, one in Whitby, and one in Helmsley.

Secretaries at North Yorkshire Law have also been using the BigHand system to help when colleagues are off sick – meaning efficiency is maintained even with short notice absences. Furthermore the firm had found that using the old analogue system some fee-earners could only give tapes to secretaries late in the afternoon - which at times put undue pressure on them towards the end of the working day - now using BigHand Digital Dictation all work is completed before the end of play.

Corrina Gregory, the Office Manager responsible for this project at North Yorkshire Law, commented:

“Two of our offices are an hour away from our head office, and in different directions, so analogue tape systems were a real obstacle for any inter-office cooperation.
