Finers Stephens Innocent is rolling out BigHand's TotalSpeech digital dictation workflow software after a successful pilot study. The pilot in the Property department, which started in November last year, proved user-friendly with fee-earners and secretaries alike. TotalSpeech will now go to 122 users across the firm.

Finers Stephens Innocent originally opted for BigHand after a detailed selection procedure involving a number of leading suppliers. The combination of BigHand's project management experience and their award-winning TotalSpeech software was seen as highly important.

TotalSpeech was originally designed on the basis of feedback from UK lawyers and secretaries. The system allows dictations to be sent regardless of whether a lawyer is in or out of the office and then instantly picked up by the secretary on their PC. The system means dictations get to a secretary quickly and are split up into smaller 'user friendly' segments. If required, dictations can then be redistributed to groups or secretaries that are less busy. One of the benefits of TotalSpeech is that instead of work backing up it is dealt with immediately, which ultimately results in clients receiving their documents sooner. In addition, TotalSpeech offers greatly improved sound quality that can help typing accuracy and speed.
